American Airlines in January completed the first installation
of AirCell’s inflight broadband connectivity solution over
North America. The Boeing 767 aircraft will operate rigorous systems
and beta testing pending certification from the FAA.
Following successful trials, AA plans to install the system in
all classes of service on its 15 B767-200 aircraft that primarily
fly US transcontinental routes.
AirCell's service on American Airlines will be US$12.95 for flights
over three hours and approximately US$10 for shorter flights,
according to an AirCell spokesperson.
