The Inflight Passenger Communications Coalition, created in September
2008 to fight a pending US ban on inflight cellphone voice calls,
has launched a website: www.passengercommunications.com. The site
is aimed at educating the traveling public about the safety of
inflight cellphone use for voice and data service. The coalition
was formed by AeroMobile, OnAir, and other pro-voice stakeholders
from the IFE/communications industry in response to the HANG UP
Act (Halting Airplane Noise to Give Us Peace Act), H.R. 5788 in
the US House of Representatives.
H.R. 5788 would prohibit cell-phone voice calls on interstate
and intrastate flights over the US by all US and non-US air carriers.
