Thales has launched its office in the sky concept, a suite of aircraft voice and data services for executive and regional jets.

This suite is based on its TopFlight SATCOM satellite communications terminal, is a packaged suite of services that enables wi-fi Internet and voice transmission while in the air. It allows business people to take advantage of the productivity applications they take for granted in the office environment, according to Richard Deakin, Managing Director at Thales's aerospace business in the UK.

The TopFlight SATCOM terminal, which also features as a key component in the OnAir offering - currently in trials with civil carriers to bring voice and data to commercial flights - is capable of data rates of up to 864kbps.
