VAustralia, the new Australia-based international airline (part
of the Virgin Blue Group of Airlines), will install the Panasonic
eXPhone system incorporating AeroMobile inflight technology on
its new Boeing 777 aircraft.
The service — set to launch in December, initially with
direct daily flights between Sydney and Los Angeles — will
let passengers send and receive SMS text messages via their mobile
phones, GPRS data devices, and mobile-data-enabled PDAs inflight
exactly as they are used on the ground.
V Australia and AeroMobile are working closely with the regulatory
and government authorities in Australia and the US to gain the
necessary approvals.
